This climb begins in the Lancashire village of Denshaw and heads to Bleakedgate Moor providing a gateway into Calderdale. This climb crosses the path of the Pennine Bridleway for those interested in off road cycling. With an average gradient of 3.7% and a maxiumum gradient of 8.3% this climbs earns a hard (red) and (cat 4). On the upper sections of the climb the views to the west are pretty impressive on a clear day.
Hard climbs will feature a constant level of difficulty or feature a technically difficult section. Climbs of this nature are likely to feature terrain with a gradient between 5 and 10%. This type of climb will really challenge new cyclists and require regular cyclists to increase their efforts to successfully complete this type of climb. The majority of the climbs in the Calderdale area are hard – Red.
